CIA plays "Simon Says"

Students took a break from their other activities and played a game of "Simon Says".  The after school program runs Monday-Thursday until 5:30.  Snacks are offered this year and cost 70 Cents/child.  This is a great place for kids to get their homework done and interact with their peers in fun environment.

Roof Work

Our school is getting an upgrade on part of our roof that has had leaking issues for several years. Even though we haven't had any rain this summer, we know the leaks are there and Fisher Roofing out of Scotttsbluff is here to help.

The rear exit is closed off when you see the red tape.

New face in the crowd

Tory Wild shares with Sonja Bruhn all about the school lunch program.   The most important thing to know is to order enough food for everybody.  The duo worked with Jillian,  "The Computer Lady" during lunch today.  Students enter pin numbers into the computer as they exit the lunch line.  The computer program keeps track of the student accounts and helps with parent reports.

Tori Wild shows Sonja Bruhn the computer program we use.

1st Test of the Season

DIBELS Testing got off to a great start today.  We want to thank our wonderful Assessment Team (Tina McLain, Theresa Welling, and Peggy Hinman) for all they have done.  We use an on line system that provides feedback to teachers immediately.  Data gathered will be used to determine student progress.  We hope to see an upward trend with all our students but sometimes there is a summer dip.  We will provide interventions where necessary and get students the help they need.  Please encourage your student to read to you at home each evening before bedtime.  This is a great way to spend some quality time with your kids as well and develop a love for literature.
Mrs. Welling tested students in the Library.

2011-12 NeSA State Reading, Math and Science Score Release

2011-12 NeSA State Reading, Math and Science Score Release

The recent release of Chadron Public School’s 2012 Nebraska State Assessment (NeSA) Reading, Math, and Science report on student results proved very exciting! Statewide tests were administered earlier last spring in grades 3 through 8 and at the 11th grade. The tests measure Nebraska state standards. These scores are part of state and federal calculations used in determining Annual Yearly Progress (AYP). Parents will receive a report on their child’s scores after August 21.
As a district, Chadron Public Schools performed exceptionally well and numerous grade levels performed greater than the state average. Our students and staff should be celebrated! Positive outcomes can only be attained when everyone is working together. Every CPS staff member is a reading teacher, allowing all other content areas to be enhanced. Our student performance data speaks for itself as we continue to progress. Students, staff, and all other stakeholders should be very proud of what we are accomplishing at Chadron Public Schools; celebrations are being scheduled to acknowledge their

This Wednesday Fisher Roofing will begin work on our roof where we had leaks when it used to rain.  It hasn’t been a problem this summer :-)

We will begin DIBELS Testing next week.  We use this data to track student growth in reading.  We encourage you to

Bus Rodeo

Today students and staff participated in a Bus Evacuation Drill
Mrs. Grant’s class listen attentively.
Bus drivers:  Mr. Toof and Mr. White discuss the seriousness of the drill :-)
Students look to the rear exit of the bus.
Students should exit 300 feet from the front of the bus during an actual evacuation.
Students will practice again in February so we are prepared for anything.
A big thanks goes out to all the bus drivers who helped with this drill.
